Ink Blending Card Making Tutorial: 2 Ways to Create Ink-Blended Backgrounds

Hi there everyone! Today I am sharing two cards with you where I have created ink blended backgrounds – two ways. Also, I will be using non-Christmas stamps to create Christmas cards.

I thought I would create two inked backgrounds, for one I used blending brushes and for the other, I used the direct ink-pad-to-paper swiping method.

First Card

I used the Tea Party Oval Set for the background. Starting with the lightest color, Pink Pearl to Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, and lastly Vineyard Berry; I added all these shades with the help of a blending brush. Once I was done, I heat set the background and prepped it with anti-static powder.

Next, I used the Clear Embossing Ink and Pure White Embossing Powder to heat emboss the image from the Sketchy Floral Stamp Set. Then I used a white Prismacolor pencil to add color to the image. I did this in a flicking motion and didn't fill it fully. I also added a lot of white paint splatters to add the “Christmas-y” touch.

For the sentiment, I used Holiday Script Words Die Set and With Gratitude Stamp Set. To finish, I added a lot of iridescent crystals.

Second Card

For this card, I swiped the ink pads in the same order from light to dark and followed the same steps. You can watch the video to get a better idea but the whole plan went down the drain when the embossing powder stuck to the paper. I still went along with the plan and applied Nuvo glitter pen inside the image for sparkle. I also added white paint splatters to this piece.

Next, I fussy cut along the outline of the image and set it aside. For the card front, I added a few score lines and adhered the piece onto the card base. Then I adhered the fussy cut panel and added a lot of crystals.

For the sentiment, I used the Fine Alphabet Die Set and the “love and hugs” from Sketchy Floral Stamp Set.
