Faux Stitched Design with Cross Stitch Canvas Die
Hi, crafty friends!
Svitlana is here today. How did you like our recent release? Do you have any favorites? For me, choosing a favorite is a hard job as I love everything Altenew. And every time I see what our amazing design team creates, my love only increases.
Today, I want to share a card made using several newly released products.
Cross-stitching on cards has become very popular now. And I’m sure some of you got hooked on it. Or maybe cross-stitching is your other hobby (I mean “real” cross-stitching on canvas, not on paper). Then the new Cross Stitch Canvas Die might be interesting for you. It cuts an A2 panel with pierced dots which create 58 x 76 squares, allowing you to cross-stitch quite intricate patterns.
But it can also be used to create a faux cross-stitched design. It won't look exactly as cross-stitched, but close enough. ;) Especially as it takes a fraction of the time to make than real cross-stitching.

I started my card with die-cutting a pierced panel using the mentioned die out of a Solar White Cardstock. Next, I stamped a floral design using the Sweet Rose Bouquet Stamp Set.

Flowers were stamped using the Tropical Forest Dye Inks and for the leaves and stems, I used the Rock Collection Dye Ink.

For the sentiment, I used the Miss You Word Die, die-cutting it out of a Solar White and Jet Black Cardstock. After that, I adhered the die-cuts together with a slight shift to create some kind of shadow. I didn't like other colors for the sentiment than white (I tried olive, black, dark gray). But white would blend too much with the white background so adding a black “shadow” helped me get away with this.

I adhered the sentiment onto the panel using the glue tape and added several black crystals to accentuate the card.

Lastly, I foam mounted the panel onto a Dark Gray card base.
I personally really love cover dies and this one became one of my favorites. Even if you don't care much about cross-stitching – take a closer look at it. I like the texture it creates; it's very interesting and settled.
Have a wonderful day!
