Partial Die-Cutting with Needlework Motif
Hello, Rubeena here sharing a card with basic, no-line watercoloring and partial die-cutting technique.
I started by stamping one of the images from Needlework Motif Stamp Set with a very light gray ink on hot-pressed watercolor paper. Hot-pressed is smoother than cold-pressed watercolor paper. Then, I did very simple watercoloring with the Watercolor 36 Pan Set. What I mean by simple is that I did not worry about depth or detail. I was not going for realism here. I added some details with a gray pen to give the flower some emphasis. I added some dark paint splatters for a fun effect.
Partial die-cutting is not a new technique, but it is one that I have not tried before. I wanted to go for a different look so I thought it would be great to try it on this card. Partial die-cutting is actually pretty easy. I lined up the coordinating die from Needlework Motif Die Set over the stamp and set it in place with post-it tape. I placed it in between my cutting plates, but I only placed half the cardstock on the plates and half of it hanging off. Whatever is actually between the plates is what will cut. I ran it through the die-cutting machine and then used scissors to cut off at the ends.
Of course, some extra parts of the image were also cut but I left those pieces intact. I added foam tape behind the part I wanted to use and mounted it over a folded kraft card base. I stamped the sentiment with Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink and finished the card off with some gems.
