Stamp Focus: Starry Night + Video

Svitlana is here. Today, I will be sharing three cards featuring the newly released Starry Night Stamp Set.
This set has a starry tree, several stand-alone stars, a star border (or corner), and several festive sentiments.
There is one type of card that I love making. I call them “corporate style ones”. You know what I mean – those cards that companies would send to their customers or partners on holidays. My first card is of this style.
I made a panel out of Jet Black Cardstock and heat embossed two starry borders on the top and bottom of the panel using the Antique Gold Embossing Powder. I also heat embossed a sentiment and a couple of stars in the middle using the same powder.
Then I made another panel, a quarter inch bigger in each direction and heat embossed its edges by swiping the Embossing Ink Pad onto the paper and then adding the Antique Gold Embossing Powder.
I foam mounted the “gold” panel onto a black card base using black foam squares. And then foam mounted the smaller panel on top of it.
For my next card, I went with a very simple recipe – watercolor wash and white embossing. Although, I went a bit overboard and made the whole background, not just a wash. I used the blue and teal watercolor pans from the Altenew Watercolor Set.
I let my panel dry and white embossed the starry tree on top using the Pure White Embossing Powder. I also white embossed a stand-alone star for the tree topper.
Then I sprayed the panel with the Pure White Ink Spray.
And then I foam mounted it onto a white card base.
Lastly, I popped a sentiment stamped onto a white strip using the Dusk Crisp Dye Ink.
The last card is also made in a bold color scheme. I know many people are intimidated by dark backgrounds and I try to not make more than one in a set of cards. But in case of this stamp set, when I was thinking “starry night”, I always pictured a night scene. Also, for the technique I’ve implemented here the black background was a must.
I started by stamping the tree onto a white panel using the Morning Frost Crisp Dye Ink. I was using the mini MISTI for stamping and left the tree mounted to the MISTI lid when I moved to the next step.
On the mentioned next step, I colored all stamped parts of the tree using the Ruby Red, Forest Glades, Ocean Waves, and Warm Sunshine Artist Markers.
Next, I stamped over the second time with the Embossing Ink and clear embossed the tree using the Crystal Clear Embossing Powder.
After that, I blended the Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink onto the panel covering it completely (a.k.a. – making my own black cardstock).
I popped the panel onto a white card base. I like using a white card base for dark backgrounds with margins of a quarter inch on each side. It tones down the boldness of the background a bit. And, also, if I want to add some white elements onto a card, the white margin around the panel balances off the white elements.
Like in this case, I popped a sentiment onto the card stamped using Crimson Crisp Dye Ink onto a white cardstock strip.
