Handmade Wedding Invitations & Save The Dates Ideas

With Summer always being a busy Wedding season I couldn't help but share a few handcrafted wedding items (Wedding Invitations & Save The Dates) I made for my cousin's wedding that took place this past weekend.

Before getting started on my projects (and I'll only share a small portion in this blog post not to overwhelm you) I did a bunch or research to better understand what kinds of wedding stationery are there. When my husband and I got married we had more of a small party rather than a full-blown wedding so it was fun for me learn a bit more about the “paper” elements of a traditional wedding.

I'm only going to share the front of the Wedding Invitation (which by the way works wonderfully as a Wedding Card to give to the newlyweds on their Wedding Day) and the Save The Dates I made.

One of my all time favorite stamp sets from Altenew is Painted Flowers so naturally I reached for that set to create these. I also incorporated Altenew's Antique Trims – I think they look stunning on Wedding Stationery.

As for the colors, the sky is the limit here. I went with the colors of my cousin's wedding – Peach and Yellow. I also added a bit of green and a hint of gold to the mix.

To stamp the Save The Dates I used Altenew's From The Desk Of stamp set and heat embossed the sentiment in gold embossing powder. Gold always makes everything pop so using Gold or Silver embossing is always a great option.

For the front of the invitations (the back was printed) I used Calligraphy Alpha stamps and spelled out the names of the bride and groom. This is a tedious process especially when one has to make 50 invitations, but it was absolutely worth it in the end. Plus one can always use a MISTI stamping tool to help mass-produce cards.

Instead of regular white cardstock I used Altenew's White Woodgrain which is my another favorite. I think it always add so much to Clean and Simple cards and makes them pop.

I will be back soon to share more handmade and hand stamped wedding stationery items I created for the wedding.

Lets chat!
