Learn This Simple but Essential Card Design Tip

Svitlana here. Today, I want to share with you an elegant floral birthday card using the amazing Statement Flowers Stamp Set. Also, along the way, I will be giving some design tips on how to pull card elements together using colors.
How to create this floral elegant birthday card:
As I mentioned above, I choose the Statement Flowers Stamp Set for the focal point element of my card. I started off by white embossing the floral stamp from the set onto an A2 Watercolor Paper. After that, I watercolored it using Watercolor 36 Pan Set.
RED FLOWER
Here, I used Coral Berry, Crimson, and Grapevine watercolors from the set. I was working one petal at a time. First, I laid the lightest Coral Berry watercolor as a base. While it was still wet, I added the Crimson watercolor to the tip and base of a petal. I also added this color on a petal side when it was needed (for example, when one petal is overlapping another, it would cast a shadow). Then, I let a petal dry and added the darkest Grapevine watercolor to the tip and base of it for more dimension.
YELLOW FLOWER
For the yellow flower, I used the Fresh Lemon, Orange Cream, and Paper Bag watercolors and I colored it in the same manner as the red one.
Finally, for leaves, I used the Fresh Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen watercolors.
After I finished coloring, I die cut the floral element using the matching die.
CARD BASE AND SENTIMENT
Then, I made a top folding A2 card base out of a Pale Gray Cardstock. Next, I adhered two white strips of different widths onto the card base. Afterward, I popped up the watercolor piece onto it.
The white strips added some interest to the card design and they also pull different elements together – the card base (with added white strips) and watercolored piece which white-embossed outlines.
After that, I made a sentiment using stamps from the Birthday Builder Stamp Set. This was white-embossed onto a Jet Black Cardstock strip and then popped up onto the card.
To accentuate the card, I added several crystals. I choose white and black ones to pull the card elements together – white strips on the card base, white outline of the floral element, and white embossing of the sentiment. Black crystals coordinate with the only other black element of the card – the black sentiment strip.
