Hello, Hello!

Hi everyone! It's Jocelyn on the blog today. I decided to take an artsy spin on my card, and I'm sharing some mixed media techniques.

I was inspired by THIS layout by Shanna Noel–the generational stamping of a word looks so cool.

Here's my take on the background:

There are several layers to this card, so I thought I would share the process:

To start, I stamped the “hello” from the Figure Effects set and stamped off several times. I didn't worry about imperfect stamping or the placement. That's the look. :) When I was done stamping, I heat set the ink.

Next, I painted over the background with white craft paint. I applied a heavier coat in the center, but I wanted to maintain some translucency.

For the next step, I painted over the concentrated white area with yellow paint. I made sure there was texture by painting some areas thicker. You'll see in the final card that I went back and added a bit more yellow paint. After letting the panel dry, I splattered some white and pink spray mist on the panel.

While I was waiting for the paint to dry, I stamped a few flowers and leaves from the Peony Scrolls set and die cut them with the Peony Scrolls dies. I used the same spray mist I used for the splatter and watered it down to use as a watercolor for the edges.

I die-cut the smaller Halftone Hello sentiment out of glitter fun foam for added texture and loosely stitched around the card.
